11th – 12th September, TU Wien Science Center
The RESTORE consortium assembled for the last time in Vienna to discuss the outcomes of the work packages and to address remaining questions.
On the second meeting day, stakeholders were invited to the Science Center to attend the public workshop.
The morning session featured presentations on various research projects related to Thermal Energy Storage and its application to Carnot Batteries. Subsequently, the presenters discussed the role of Thermal Energy Storage in future energy systems. Besides RESTORE, the following projects were presented at the workshop:
- ABraytCSPfuture, presented by Christos Agrafiotis from DLR
- DusTES, presented by Paul Schwarzmayr from TU Wien
- sCO2OP-TES, presented by Marco Astolfi from Politecnico di Milano
- I-UPS, presented by Parth Kumavat from KTH
- TREASURE, presented by Maria Moser from SOLID
- Efficient Pit, presented by Magdalena Berberich from Solites
In the afternoon, on-site participants were invited to the labs of the IET (TU Wien). Research from TU Wien’s project team presented the thermochemical energy storage (TCES) reactors developed in the project. The test campaign with the 5 kW reactor is already ongoing. The 30 kW reactor has been successfully assembled and connected with the rORC prototype. The full RESTORE prototype will be intensively tested in the next weeks in order to validate the technology on TRL level 4. Find out more about the prototypes in the brochure.
The project team thanks all stakeholders for participating in the workshop and all project partners for the productive discussions during the meeting!
